Yahoo Launches Local Search BETA
Yahoo has launched a BETA version of their new Local Search service in a bid to compete with Google. Yahoo! Local is the latest offering from a major search engine to give searchers the ability to tap into the growing local search market.
To use Yahoo! Local, simply enter the product or service you are seeking in the first search field and the address or zip code in the second. Results are linked to more information about the company, further contact details, a map, a web site (if one is found) and the matching Yellow Pages category.
Also included is approximate
distance from the searcher's location, pricing information and user ratings.

|
You can sort the results by distance, ratings, price or relevance to search terms (which is the default). Yahoo estimates the offline market for local search to be around USD 100 billion.
